At Be Earth, our goal is to heal and preserve human interaction with the world, rekindling our connection to the earth that feeds, nourishes, and sustains us. We find purpose in bringing organic, ethically-sourced foods and help to communities that might not otherwise have access. We're more than a grocery store; we're a community dedicated to fostering connections and positive change.
Our Story
Major grocery chains have been dictating what we should eat, often neglecting health foods and sourcing from overseas farms with little oversight. This trend threatens the sustainability of the Canadian food industry and has led to widespread food insecurity. In response, communities have risen up to fight for food security, leading to the conception of Be Earth.
In 2008, Phillip Samuel, who had worked in grocery retail and food manufacturing for over 20 years, started a food production company called Juizee Foods. This company produced the first-ever Jerk Sausage in Canada, along with other meat products, and supplied hotdog vendors, grocery stores, and restaurants. Using only organic ingredients in his products, Phillip faced challenges due to the high costs of raw ingredients and witnessed unethical practices in the food manufacturing and retail industry.
Be Earth's mission is to heal and preserve human interaction with the world, restoring our connection to the earth that feeds, nourishes, and sustains us. By offering organic, ethically-sourced foods, we aim to provide essential nutrition to communities that might not otherwise have access to it.
As Be Earth prepares to open its doors, we are also championing a movement to open urban farms and support local farms that sustain the community. Our market will start small but grow as the demand for natural foods increases. We will educate the community on sustainable farming practices and the importance of supporting local agriculture.
Inspired by the need for transparency and sustainability in food production, Be Earth aims to become a rare provider of organic products in Canada. Our vision is simple yet ambitious: by filling our bodies with the best the earth has to offer, we can become our best selves. This idea, inspired by our founder's journey and dedication, will continue to drive us as we prepare to open, serve our community, and champion sustainable practices that benefit everyone.
